Elbow pain, characterized by discomfort in the joint where your upper arm bone meets your forearm, is quite common. From mild discomfort to severe pain, elbow pain can vary significantly in severity, often influencing daily activities.

The most common elbow impairments are known as epicondylitis. The lower portion of the upper arm bone has two prominent points called the medial epicondyle (on the inside of the elbow) or the lateral epicondyle (on the outside of the elbow). These bony regions are significant in elbow pain as this is where the tendons of the forearm wrist and finger muscles attach.

Strain to the muscles and tendons in the elbow area is one of the most common sources of elbow pain. Strain to this area could be caused by repetitive movements or an injury from a sudden strain.

Physiotherapy interventions like electrotherapeutic modalities such as Ultrasound and Gentle Therapeutic Electric Currents are commonly utilized to reduce pain and swelling and to stimulate the healing process. Also, treatment involves stretching, manual therapy and targeted exercise programs which are used to fully rehabilitate the injured area.
