Our belief at Newcastle Village Physiotherapy is that proper exercise is an essential component of your rehabilitation and as such forms the backbone of all of our therapy programs. Our physiotherapists at Newcastle Village Physiotherapy are the most experienced Physiotherapists in this area. We are experts in assessing movement and identifying errors and inefficiencies that can often result in an acute injury or be the root cause of long-standing chronic pain. We will use information from your assessment and when combined with our knowledge of functional anatomy will select the most efficient exercises to address your current impairments, improve performance and reduce the incidence of re-injury.

At Newcastle Village Physiotherapy we are familiar with many specialized exercise protocols:

Sahrmann: Dr. Shirley Sahrmann is amongst the foremost Physiotherapists in the world. Her protocols are well known to successfully rehabilitate muscle and joint Imbalances.

Nirschl: Dr. Robert P. Nirschl is known as an innovator in the field of Orthopedic Sports medicine. His protocols are extremely useful for many conditions and in particular for “Tennis Elbow” and “Golfer’s Elbow”

McKenzie: Robin McKenzie is a pioneer in how physiotherapists treat lower back pain and he has developed many protocols and procedures for Spine and Limb Impairments.

Butler: David S. Butler is one of the foremost experts in treating Chronic Pain and impairments with movement of the Nervous System.

Myers: Thomas W. Myers is an innovator and foremost expert in treating movement impairments from the Fascial System. He is the originator of Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridians. His approach to treating this often overlooked and quite painful set of impairments has met with resounding success.

McGill: Dr. Stuart McGill is a world expert on managing spinal pain. His style is one of using strengthening exercise to create a strong, stable and functional spine.

Kinetic Link Training: A unique and very systematic approach to training and functional movement. The KLT training system, originated by Wayne Rogers, is designed to link both the upper and the lower body movements through a strong capable core. Its application in a strong and functional body are superior to systems that attempt to train these areas separately.

By using these exercise systems, along with many others, our Physiotherapists will provide you with a personalized exercise program that incorporates many types of corrective and functional strengthening exercises. We will ensure that you are confident in implementing your program independently both in clinic and at home. We regularly reassess your technique and gauge your improvements, progressing as you are able and ready.
